While ratings rival Kapuso claims leadership nationwide, the Kapamilya network has remained unfazed and continues its affirmation to its influence among television audience nationwide.
In August, based on data supplied by Kantar Media, the network claimed an average audience share of 44 percent or 12 points higher than the Kapuso network’s 32 percent.
The Kapamilya network remained victorious in both urban and rural homes, particularly in Metro Manila where it recorded 41 percent versus GMA’s 28 percent. ABS-CBN also ruled Total Luzon with 40 percent, compared to GMA’s 36 percent. And in Total Visayas it cleaned up the audience with 51 percent leaving the morsels to its competitors, so did it bashed its rival with 52 percent in Mindanao.
And, despite the hype the rival is giving its newest show to challenge FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, the audience across the 7, 100 islands, readily gave the Coco Martin starrer two thumbs up, making it the most popular prime time show on Philippine television.
Among the 10 most popular shows in the country, only Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho made it to the list and settled in the ninth spot, below Home Sweetie Home and above The Blood Sisters.
Naturally, rival network that subscribes to another ratings provider and continued to think Kantar Media isn’t credible enough for anyone to put trust on would readily jump into an argument on the veracity of Kapamilya’s claim.
But in this business, what the Kapamilya chose to believe in is its right and privilege, and like it’s rival, it will continue to lay claim based on the data that they get from the ratings provider it subscribes to.
