OPM singer/songwriter Noel Cabangon is glad that he is now in the cast of the 7thrun of the extremely popular musical based on the music of the folk-rock group Aegis, Rak of Aegis, beginning July 5.
But Noel won’t be seen until July 21 at the beginning of the country’s marking of Buwan ng Wika.
At the press do for Sorexidine, last Wednesday, Noel said that he’s alternating for the role of Kiel.
He said, “There will be performances na ako ang nasa play, at merong mga gabi na ang ka-alternate ko. The best thing to do is ask first the box-office who will play the role of Kiel on the date you’d like to watch the musical and if you’d like to watch me perform.”
Cabangon joins others who are coming into the play, like Randy Santiago who will alternate for the role of Fernan, Bayang Barrios and Jenine Desiderio alternating for the role of Mary Jane.
Other new cast members include Wish 1075 Wishcovery 2018 1st Runner-up Kimberly Baluzo, who will alternate as Aileen, Season 2 The Voice of the Philippinescontestant Leah Patricio, who will alternate as Mercy, singer Derrick Monasterio, who will alternate as Tolits, two-time PhilPop grand prize winner Yumi Lacsamana, who will be part of the ensemble, and up and coming theater artists Ashe Uy, Marynor Madamesila, Lemuel Silvestre, and Gerard Dy, who will be members of the ensemble.
They join returning cast members Aicelle Santos, Kim Molina, and Shaira Opsimar (Aileen), Isay Alvarez-Sena and Sweet Plantado-Tiongson (Mary Jane), Robert Sena and Renz Verano (Kiel), Kakai Bautista and Noemi Gonzales (Mercy), Myke Salomon, Poppert Bernadas, and Vince Lim (Kenny), Jerald Napoles, Pepe Herrera, and Joshua Bulot (Tolits), Ron Alfonso and Jimmy Marquez (Jewel), Gie Onida and Rody Vera (Fernan), and Gimbey Dela Cruz, Gab Pangilinan, Matel Patayon, Abi Sulit, Teetin Villanueva, Gold Villar-Lim, Paeng Sudayan, Roi Calilong, Gio Gahol, Carlon Matobato, and John Moran as members of the ensemble.
Noel said he is very careful about over-using his voice. “Alam mo na, ito lang ang puhunan natin (You know this is my only asset). So, pangalagaan na natin ito.”
“I avoid eating sweets,” said the singer who released in 1992 “Kanlungan” that has become his signature song.
Gold Villar-Lim, also a member of the Rak of Aegis cast, said, “I used to lose my voie often when I was in the musical….I was in multiple runs for seven days. I learned to use my diaphragm and I used to drink water after a scene. When it’s cold in the theater, one should know every precaution.”
Mr. Fu, who was also at the press briefing said. “Being a DJ and a host, it is very important that I take care of my voice given the demands of my job. In our everyday engagements, mahirap ng walang boses, ‘di ba? Paano tayo makakabwelo sa tsismisan kapag wala tayong boses—lalung-lalo na kung may mainit na issues.”
“Before any show or performance, I make sure I get enough sleep. Sometimes, I do cardio exercises before a show. I also don’t speak a lot to preserve my voice, and I stay away from sweets,” Noel said.
Sorexidine is supporting PETA in the 7th season of Rak of Aegisrunning from 5 July to 29 September.
“We are very excited to be one of the major sponsors of Rak of Aegis. We find this partnership very fitting for the campaign of Sorexidine, with the tagline ‘Kapag boses ang puhunan’,” saidPharex Healthcorppresident Tomas Luke Marcelo “Beau” Agana III.
