Passing: Gary Lising, writer, comedian, on 1 June. He was 78 years old.
His death was confirmed via a post on Facebook by his brother Pompeii Lising. “I am sad to inform some terrible news.We lost our beloved Gary Lising, my eldest brother, today.Gary, thank you for all the laughs and love, we will miss you deeply.But I know that your jokes will make God laugh.Rest in Peace my dear brother…”
There were no details about the cause of his death. But Gary Lising had a heart condition. In 2009, he survived a cardia arrest. Then in 2012, he suffered another cardiac arrest and had to undergo multiple angioplasty procedures.
Gary became popular in the 70s when he went into TV work as one of the funny men in Champoy along with Noel Trinidad and the late Subas Herrero, Cherie Gil, Mitch Valdes, and Tessie Tomas.
A prolific writer, he published several books among which are Golf; Erap and Other 4-Letter Words; Marcos in Red, Cory in Yellow, Ramos in Blue, Erap in Peach, Gloria in Excelsis; Everything You Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid to Ask Your Children; and Confessions of a D.O.M. (Delightful Old Man).
He also appeared in a number of movies.
Gary was an economics major at Ateneo de Manila University
